Out for a special occasion , Benedicte and me went to " Brasserie Flo " , located Passage des Petites Ecuries , not far from rue Saint Denis in the 10 th arrondissement . This is part of the Flo group that has been buying up restaurants in Paris in the last decades . The place has a nice old looking way , not this brand new restoration shine as too much seen elsewhere, and is very professionally manned . Wooden floor , brass , adequate light level to have a comfortable dinner in an old times patina .

We had reserved and were seated next to visitors from the UK , and brazilians . On the wooden panelling were paintings , the one facing me was some sort of rhine valley with vineyards landscape . A date on it said 1913 . We were there for a treat , so our choice was a " cote de boeuf " and to accomodate that , we took a St Estephe 1999 Chateau Le Crock , wich was indeed perfect , even tasted just after being uncorked . We had the meat cooked "saignante " and enjoyed it , making the wine very pleasant to drink with .

The bar is also someting to see and if you have to wait for a table to be freed , the place is pleasant with the wood , the brass , the glasses , an atmosphere of its own .
