Alice Feiring, a James Beard Award-winning journalist, writes feverishly about wine on her blog, In Vino Veritas. She’s written plenty on paper, too: she was the wine and travel columnist for Time magazine and has written for Conde Nast Traveler and the New York Times. For WSJ., she wrote about vintner Abe Schoener (that’s his kitchen table, above) inBarrel Fever and most recently offers wine pairings for sea urchins. She’s also the author of “The Battle for Wine and Love OR How I Saved the World from Parkerization.” Since she spends her days thinking and writing about wine, we asked her to name her top 5 fellow wine sites for us.
1. CaptainTumorMan.com
Wine importer Joe Dressner, combines his insider industry observations with his current brain cancer misadventure, in a button-pressing irreverence laced with wine trends and observations.
2. http://drinkster.blogspot.com/
Another irreverent, guffaw provoking blog from Down Under. Perfect for when the wine world gets too depressing. Phil White knits solid news and events to titles like Paris Dumps Jugs For Cans in Top Blomo. Irresistible.
3. Decanter.com
One of the few serious wine news sites around, often the first to break European wine events, and the EU’s latest wine ruling disaster.
4. Lagramiere.com
The Perils of Amy! An American transplant, Amy Lillard makes wine in the Rhone and tells all. A real life wine adventure as she and her husband find their way to making wine naturally and what that means to them.
5. Wineterroirs.com
Parisian blogger/photographer Bert Celce’s earnestly detailed winery cellar and vineyard visits, with the occasional diversion into the joys of eating cow tail.
